Screening Tools for Piping Systems

Screening Tools for Piping Systems

Screening Tools for Piping Systems

(OP)
I have a closed drains system on my platform that is fully welded from start to finnish of diameters varying from 2" up to 10" diameter.  There is approximately 5 miles of pipework in the system.  It has multiple elbows and branches and has been in service for 23 years.

I know that there are SRB's in the pipework and need to screen the system to target inspection.

Does anyone know of a quick and reliable method?

RE: Screening Tools for Piping Systems

What comes to mind:

1.  Portions of the closed drain system upto 4";
RT-DWDI; you can readily identify corrosion
    across the pipeline wall.

2.  Thickness and or flaw detection survey.

2.1  Guided Wave-UT to cover considerable pipeline
         lenght. (assess material loss)

3.  Hydrostatic Testing.

4.  Assuming portions of the pipping is U/G ; DCVG/CIPS
    to survey the coating system.

5.  Pipeline profile (Low/High Points) prone to fluid
    accumlation or stagnant conditions.

The above can be utlized to a level of coverage that would
provide assurance; in combination of or all.

Cheers

Thanks for the info.  We have already done random UT & Radiography and found problems.  I am looking at GUL & LORUS at present but have lots of branches & elbows to contend with.

SLOFEC is another option?

Cheers
Jim
