Heat Treatment for AC2B

(OP)
I'm currently using grade AC2B Al alloy to cast break master and clutch master, using gravity die mould. In what way can i enhance the properties of this material..? Like in alternative HT..

RE: Heat Treatment for AC2B

How do you want to enhance the proerties, more elongation, more proof stress, more tensile strength.

what is the chemical analysis

RE: Heat Treatment for AC2B

The AC2B aluminum alloy designation is listed under Japanese Casting specification KSD 6008. A cross reference with this casting specification indicates the AC2B is an AA 319 Aluminum alloy casting - F or T6.

The AA 319 can be sand cast or permanent mold cast. There are three strength levels based on tempers offered by some foundries;

AA 319 -F  as cast, lowest strength ~ 27 ksi min UTS

AA 319 - T5   ~30 Ksi min UTS

AA 319 - T6   ~36 Ksi min UTS
