how to measure steam flowrate

how to measure steam flowrate

how to measure steam flowrate

(OP)
HI, im carring out a steam balance and I need to calculate the steam flow rate of the equipments. I only have the pipes diameters and the pressure. If i had the steam velocity I would be able to calculate the flowrate with the diameter.  Hoy can I determine the flowrate only with the diameter and the pressure?

RE: how to measure steam flowrate

pabo,

I do not believe that you can....

RE: how to measure steam flowrate

Why can't you check the condensate flow rate for an approximation(you can't account for the flashed condensate)? Otherwise, I agree with MJC.

RE: how to measure steam flowrate

If you know the pressure drop along a long length of line, then you can estimate that flowrate, but it's not possible with a single point pressure.  A measuring cylinder for the condensate is what you need for an approximation, as quark suggests.  If you want something a bit more accurate, then measure all the points, and determine the total steam consumption, then you can adjust each point source accordingly.  Might be a big job, though....
