Measure Tool Settings

Measure Tool Settings

Measure Tool Settings

(OP)
Is there any way to set Measure Tool Settings so they stay the same as long as you using the same template .
For example I use 3 dec places all the time and even if my Document Properties Units are set to 3 dec places when the Measure Tool pops up the defaut is 2 dec places.
I can go to Measure Tool Options and set it to View Global settings but is there any way to set it permanently?
Thank you.
Andrzej

RE: Measure Tool Settings

The help file reads like you can change it but it doesn't seem like it's working correctly. This is from the help file. Read the last one.

Display Units
To display the results with units other than the units specified for the active document, select one of the following:

View measurement settings Displays the units specified in the Measurement Options dialog box.

View global settings Displays the units specified for the active document set in Tools, Options, Document Properties, Units.

View system defaults Displays the system default units for new documents set in the document template.

From the way the last one reads - it sounds like you can set your decimal amount under "Units" in the Tools\Options. Then save the template. start a new part (Or the template you saved) and click Measure and those units and that Decimal place will show up in your measure tool, if you use the "View System Defaults". Well I have tried this a few times and I can't get it to work that away.

Anyone else read that last statement like that? If so, have you had any luck getting it to work?

RE: Measure Tool Settings

Scott

The only way I could get the defalt to reflect the system settings was to first set the system setting to what I wanted then open the measure tool check the system setting box and close the measure tool save as a templet. then using that templet the defalt was what was in the system settings. however if I changed the system settings in that document the measure tool did not update.

Hope that this helps.
