Garage foundations using treated materials

Garage foundations using treated materials

Garage foundations using treated materials

(OP)
One builder in my neighborhood is using treated materials as wall foundations around garages. Other builders in the subdivision are posting signs "Concrete used exclusively in foundations."

There seems to be differences of opinions, but the treated foundations are apparently approved by code. Location: Central Michigan south of Lansing. Any comments?

RE: Garage foundations using treated materials

Properly treated and built wood foundations have been used for years and are approved in many parts of the country.  Be careful about drainage around the wood.  I personally would (no pun intended) rather have concrete but I am rather conservative.
