Water Storage galvanized beam clamps hold pipe support?

Water Storage galvanized beam clamps hold pipe support?

Water Storage galvanized beam clamps hold pipe support?

(OP)
My tank contractor ask me if he can use galvanized beam clamps to hold the pipe supports of the upper diffuser for our water distribution (chilled water system). Since the beam clamps are above the water level, he doesn’t see this being a problem?

I don't know what he really means about problem: corrosion or structure strength? Please let me know if you have similar experience. Thank you.

RE: Water Storage galvanized beam clamps hold pipe support?

The area above the water in a tank is humid, as such the prevention of corrosion of the roof beams is important,  installing a beam clamp on those beams will disturb the coating allowing localized accelerated corrosion.  Also check the loading on those beams, they are typically not over designed.
