Can I change the face where a hole is started, like I a sketch?
Can I change the face where a hole is started, like I a sketch?
(OP)
I've frequently found myself redoing holes due to eliminating a face that the hole was started on. I'm speaking of holes,csunk,cbores,tapped...from hole wizard?

So your only choice is to use Planes instead of faces or don't remove the faces. You can't offset a plane using the face that you might get rid of either. because then you will get rid of the plane as well.

The ctopher procedure is available since (at least) SW2001. But it can fail, according to the end conditions of the hole feature.
The Bouke procedure as better results.

Thanks for input
RE: Can I change the face where a hole is started, like I a sketch?
Remember there are two ways that you can use the HW... select the planar face first (which yeilds a planar sketch)
or to just turn on the tool and click the face you want a hole on (produces a 3d sketch)
Generally I always select the panar face first (unless its a non-planar face I want holes on) and then turn on the HW.
that said... If you have planar Position sketches in the HW feature, you can Right-Mouse on the position sketch under the HW feature (Sketch1) and select edit sketch plane.
That should do it.
