Pipe Tee Question

Pipe Tee Question

Pipe Tee Question

(OP)
An occasion came up with our subcontractor concerning the listing of pipe tee sizes on a manifest. Just what is the right way to list pipe tee sizes on a spec sheet?  We say it is listed starting with inlet size then the size of the branch (tee) then the outlet size. They disagree, saying it should be inlet then outlet then the tee size.  Just what is correct?

Sorry, your contractor is correct. Take a look at Table 6 of ASME B16.9 (1993 - the latest ed. might be different). They list the reducing tee dimensions as run x run x branch. Then go to your local hardware store and see how they list their reducing tees...

RE: Pipe Tee Question

Agree with jte your SubContractor is correct.

RE: Pipe Tee Question

I agree jte, the run dimensions are given first with the branch last...

RE: Pipe Tee Question

...and this is also the practice in the UK (run - run - branch).
