Ordinate dim-ing error-in drawing-cant create this ordinate dimension

I cant create an ordinate dimension to a hole wizard generated hole. I've done it lots of times before, but I think I must've messed sumthin up.  I can however dimension its location with standard dimensions.  And when I dimension its size it tells me true radius and doesnt let me change it to a diameter.  What did I do this time?

Perhaps your view is isometric and now projected?

...I mean not projected.

In drawings, insert view by model reference fails to warn the user if the view is not a projected view.  I wrote an addin to add this warning, since we've lost many hours due to this.

That makes sense but, I started a new drawing file, using named view, I pick the top view orientation from the list, and it gives me the yes or no if I want to switch the view to iso-true-dimensions.  I dont, and hit no, and the same thing happens.  I set the top view of the part file by selecting the face that the hole is started on, then did the view orientation-set function.

RE: Ordinate dim-ing error-in drawing-cant create this ordinate dimension

If the view your using is skewed ever so slightly then SW will see this hole as an ellipse and will not be able to add a dimension to it. You said you used a Named view. go to the part and make sure it isn't skewed ever so slightly.

I have seen this many times from users and they think it's right but it's not. I have seen it skewed .1 of a degree before and SW does not recognize the problem.

Thanks for the ideas guys.  I didnt find the problem, although I came up with the solution.  I had set the view that I wanted to put into the drawing on the part as "top", which is normal to  the face with the holes on it.  The holes were perpendicular to that face, and all the other faces were properly perp & parr to each other.  I went back and set my view orientation normal to my top plane, and added my drawing view orientation using the normal to view off of the plane I needed, and then everything fell into place correctly.

Thanks for the ideas.
