Spring Hangers Maintenance

Spring Hangers Maintenance

Spring Hangers Maintenance

(OP)

Hi!

In a plant turnaround we need to do an overhaul of some piping spring hangers.
We need to take them apart, change the springs, do the respective calibration, etc. We have not done this before, we will contract a local shop to the job, however I have to write up the procedure for them to follow.

Question: Where can I find some maintenance procedure guidelines for this?

Thanks

RE: Spring Hangers Maintenance

Go with the manufacturer’s literature on care and maintenance of the hanger.  I don’t think there are rules and regulations on maintenance of hangers by any of the regulatory agencies.    Here is one site that has general information on spring hangers that might be of help.

Just make sure whoever works on the hangers understand what they are doing.  We got bit bad with work that was performed by people who didn’t understand the workings of the hangers.
