"UNKNOWN ERROR"

I get continually the strange winXP error "unexpected filedivision" when i open an file i haven't made by myself in solidworks 4.
Am i doing something wrong or is there any solution for this?
I got the files by Fanuc, but they haven't a clou.
Thanks in advance!

Bert

RE: "UNKNOWN ERROR"

If your getting an "Unknown Error" when opening a file. I'll bet you that the file is probably corrupted. The best way to test it is on another computer. If it opens there then the problem is your station.

When you wrote "unexpected filedivision" did you mean "Unexpected file version"? If so, what format are the Fanuc files in? i.e. What extension do they have?

Thanks Barry and Baugh for your quik answers,

I wrote "unexpected filedivision" but, because englisch is not my native language i translated it from dutch to englisch probably a bit wrong.
It is an XP- message who tells me that the file is wrong in its self. "Classification" is perhaps a better translation than "division".
The files are assembly and part extensies respectively *.sldprt and *.sldasm.
When i am trying to open it, the drawing is on my screen but i get directly the XP message. The only option is clicking "ok" and after that the drawing is gone.

Appreciate your reactions!

Bert

Ps. Scott, its quite sure a problem on my computer because the guys by fanuc don't getting this error. Unfortunatly i have only one computer with solidworks to check it.

RE: "UNKNOWN ERROR"

If the files are less than 2MB, email them to the address in my profile & I will try to open them.

The Fanuc files opened in SW2003 SP0 without problem. I have saved, zipped & returned them to your ftp site for you to try again.
I will try to open your original files in SW2004 SP1 tonight & wil let you know what happens.

I installed Solidworks 2003 on my computer and indeed, it opened the files without a problem as well.
But version 2004 still gets a error.
Strange, i am curious about what happen when you open it in 2004.

RE: "UNKNOWN ERROR"

The files opened OK in SW2004 SP0. So I have no idea what is causing your problem. Bad install caused by faulty CD's maybe?

Propbably. I am going to install 2004 on an other computer and see what happens. Maybe its something in XP whats wrong. Otherwise i am going to contact the solidworks guys and see what they say.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your help and tryings. I appreciate that.
