Surface displays shaded on only one side

Surface displays shaded on only one side

I've was extractong surfaces from a ug part to be used for analysis and noticed that only one side of the surface shows up. I had extracted multiple sheets because the extracted surface was invisible on one side and I could not see the feature on screen.

Is there a Visual preference that can be set so both sides of the surface display in shaded view.

I'd appreciate any help you can give to help me see what I have on screen with out having to spin the model to see the surfaces I've made.

Look up "Two-sided light" in gateway help, I think that's what you want. You should be able to enable it through Preferences->Visualization.

Cowski,

There is a two sided light option which doesn't work for this but now I'm interested in finding out what that does.

I started looking around though and found the solution.

There is an option under Visualization Performance -> General Settings tab called Backface Culling which will cause one side of all surfaces not to appear if checked. Face normal doesn't affect which side shows which seems rather strange.

Leaving the Backface Culling option unchecked makes the surfaces show on both sides.
