Code requirements for pipe by size

Code requirements for pipe by size

Code requirements for pipe by size

(OP)
Greetings,

Is it true that if a pressure vessel is smaller than 6" IPS that it is not required to be code stamped?  This would be for water at less than 200 F and under 700 psig -the pipe is welded seam schedule 10- 316L stainless steel.
Best Regards,

Steve

RE: Code requirements for pipe by size

The rule is, for Section VIII, Div 1, that vessels with an inside diameter of 6 inches or less are not within the scope of the Code.  That is why you see the small diameter air cylinders in some air compressors.

To quote chapter and verse for cb4's information see Section VIII Div. 1 U-1(c)(2)(i).
