Lofting error message

Lofting error message

(OP)
I am trying to learn lofting today and keep getting this error message:

"Loft 1: Guide curve no. 1 is invalid. It does not intersect with section no. 0."

As far as I can tell, the center of each profile is coincident with an end point of the curve. The curve is a 3d line and each profile was made by creating a plane normal to the curve at each end point. I don't know what section 0 is. I tried sweeping each profile by itself along the curve and that works ok, but the lofting will not work.

Thanks for any suggestions,
John Woodward

RE: Lofting error message

jlwoodward,

I believe (somebody else correct me if I am wrong) that for a loft the guide curve must intersect the sketch profile itself, not some defined point inside or outside the sketch, like the center.  Sweeps are not subject to this limitation.  Section 0 is simply the first section you select for the loft.

RE: Lofting error message

Your Guide curves have to be coincident and they probably need to pierce the profile. You have to make sure every point on the guide is coincident, pierces or both the profile or you will get that error.
