Flat screen monitors
Flat screen monitors
(OP)
Hi guys
I work in a small local authority architect department and we are currently using AutoCad 2002 with 21" monitors (not flat screen). We have recently been offered 21" flat screens but it has been mentioned that flat screen monitors are not suitable for CAD work or Adobe photoshop.
Is this true of false, what are you guys using.

I just switched to a Sony 23" and the only problaem I have run into there is the distortion if you use the wide format. You can run it in the standard format, but loose about 1 1/2" of the screen on each side. I love the resolution and sharpness of the monitor.
If there were a way to set the aspect ratio in Autocad, it would be great, but I haven't figured out how to do it. In the "old days" (DOS) many video display drivers for Autocad would allow you to correct the aspect ratios of monitors, but with Windows, I'm not sure that's possible. I would appreciate any advice if it is.

I have istalled LCDs on all computers in our office and i am the only one set at native (sharp display for CAD)All others are set lower than native and are fuzzy as a result.
One workaround I used for a coworker was to set LCD at native rez, then use accessabilty options to enlarge icons and text.
I find LCD's easier on the the eyeballs, and a great space savers. My desk is against a wall and any size of CRT is not an option.
Also remember, a 15" LCD has the same viewable display size as a 17" CRT and so on up.
