Need to reinstall MSVCRT.DLL but its in use by Windows

Please help!
I'm getting the following warning message when I launch most applications (MathCAD, IE5, AutoCAD, etc)

"The procedure entry point ??_U@YAPAXI@Z
could not be located in the DLL MSVCRT.DLL"

I need to reinstall MSVCRT.DLL but as its in use by Windows NT it wont let me!

CAP GEMINI ERNEST & YOUNG COULD NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!
(their solution is to reformat the hard drive!)

I would be most impressed and appreciative if this can be solved??

RE: Need to reinstall MSVCRT.DLL but its in use by Windows

daveo,
I won't take any responsibility for the results, try to start your computer from boot diskett (create it if you don't have one) and install *.DLL from the dos prompt. Again, I know about computers just enough to get in trouble. Good luck!

Thanks Yakpol, but this does not work on NT.

RE: Need to reinstall MSVCRT.DLL but its in use by Windows

If there is a virus protection program running it will interfere in this way. Use the sys tray icon to shut that down then try and copy/expand the file you need from the Windows CD.
