I may be revised permit limits of Total Phosphorous = 0.052 mg/l.  My current design of an SBR followed by filter cloth, using alum addition can get down to around 0.2 mg/l.  But I looking for the most cost effective process to get below 0.2 mg/l.  I know that I can put in micro-filtration downstream of my tertiary units, but that is somewhat cost prohibitive.

Has anyone tried phosphorous removal by attaching sand to coagulated phosphorous(using ferric chloride and polymer), downstream of the secondary units, and settling the phosphorous out in a clarifier?

Application of lanthanum chloride as a 35% water solution can easily and economically reduce the remaining phosphate load to well within your discharge limits.

I have personally had success with calcium cloride and floc and believe it may be siutable for your situation.
