Relative Humidty impact on combustion???

Relative Humidty impact on combustion???

Relative Humidty impact on combustion???

(OP)
Hi,

I'm presently optimizing the ECU code for a F.Ford 1600. I'm wondering about the impact of the relative humidity of the air on premium fuel combustion comparing sunny days against rainy days RH(20%/80%)???. I planning to optimize the ECU intake system depending of the weather. ( non-turbo, std. intake filter box )

Does it worth an optimization??? If yes, how could I control it or force more humide air to achieve better performance?

RE: Relative Humidty impact on combustion???

As I understand it, RH improves the combustion process as the ionosed water molecules act as a catalyst for carbonmonoxide to oxidise to carbondioxide in the presence of sufficient oxygen, but water in vapor form, displaces oxygen from the inlet charge, thus reducing VE.

As combustion efficiency is already very high, sacraficing VE for an improvement it CE is futile.
