edge blend with variable radius?

edge blend with variable radius?

(OP)
What is the quickest way to perform a variable radius. start and finish radius differ on same edge?

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

Edge Blend.

Pick the edge, then pick the edge endpoint, and enter the start radi, next select the end edgepoint, and enter the end radi.  OK.

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

I agree with Gunman, just make sure the variable radius option is checked on.

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

You can also pick other points between the end points if needed.

Thanks to all for the helpful info but, I have another related question. Whats the easiest way to measure a radius on a edge that has been tapered? I've been using geometric properties under analysis. The value shows up in point constructor dialog fields.

Thanks in advance!

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

Hmm don´t you get the radius value with information->object?? What does it say?

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

If the edge is straight (or close to it) you can cut a section through the point of interest. If the edge is curved, it gets a little trickier.

If you have only defined 2 radii on the edge, it does a linear change along the 2 points. If you know how far down the edge you are you can calculate it from that. If more than 2 points have been specified (with different radii) then it does a cubic interpolation between them and again it gets tricky.

RE: edge blend with variable radius?

If you don´t get the radius information through information->object, extract the edge and add three points with "point set" and make a circle segment through the points, use deviation check first to see so they are close enogh and then check the radius of your circle segment with information->object
