Coefficient of rebound

Coefficient of rebound

Coefficient of rebound

(OP)
Can anyone explain the meaning of "coefficient of rebound"? Steinberg, in "Vibration Analysis for Electronic Equipment" mentions it in the following equation:

V=C*(2gH)^.5

where
V=velocity change
C=coefficient of rebound (1.0-2.0)
g=acceleration of gravity
H= drop height

Thanks

Kilkenny

RE: Coefficient of rebound

That is an odd way of describing it, but C tells you how much rebound you get at C-=1 the velocity drops to zero at rebound, whereas at C=2 the falling item will rebound to the initial drop height.

Cheers

Greg Locock
