FEA for noise

FEA for noise

FEA for noise

(OP)
Hello

Can anyone tell me if FEA packages can analyse noise problems ?

To be specific I would like to examine how noise travels through pipes, elbows, tee's etc.  We have Solidworks and can build a solid model of what we wish to examine but finding the right software package that can examine how sound waves propagate through the equipment seems to be a minefield.

I am not sure we would want to do the work ourselves, but here again we have the problem of selecting the right consultant who has an appropriate software package so we don't pay for hundreds of hours of someones time to adapt or use inapproriate package.

Any advice, reccomendations, experioences or simply suggestions on the right questions to ask would be appreciated.

Thanks

RE: FEA for noise

Hai,
Are you interested in structure borne noise or flow related noise!

Limited number of software packages are available to evaluate the noise. Lms-Sysnoise is one amoung them.

Before precedding for the analysis, decide the frequency region of interest. Low frequency, mid frequency and high frequency regions. It is difficult for single software package to cater for all the three frequency regions.

Correlation is important inseparable part of noise simulation.

Regards,
