System Compatibility
System Compatibility
(OP)
Hi,
I have a problem.
The old computers that have been given to my lab. have the following configuration (when I right click the "my computer" upon logging on):
System:
Microsoft Windows NT
4.00.1381
Computer:
x86 Family 5 Model 2 Stepping 12
AT/AT Compatible
64,948 KB RAM
The task that I have been given is to install Windows 2000. My question is: is it possible? will the system crash each time I boot after installation?
The current hard disc is 1GB; I have the option to upgrade the hard disc to any level.
Thanks very much.
Regards

RE: System Compatibility
We've converted a number of PentiumII computers to W2000 without any problems.

RE: System Compatibility
I concur with IRStuff, we have a lot of PII's at work, a few hundred MHz, that run 2000. 128-256Meg RAM. 3-10GB hard drives. They were running NT4 previous to 2000 upgrade.

RE: System Compatibility
One small think;
Does that mean the computers that have been given are a part of PII family?..I thought x86 probably relates to either 486 or 586?

RE: System Compatibility
My PIII running NT4.0 calls itself '86 Family 6 Model 7, but both w2000 and XP know which Pentium model it is.
