Cant attach a Blocks to any entities like Planes, face

HI
I cant attach a block in drawing to any entities in drawing.my problem is if any changes in the assembly or part the changes made should propgate & update the block in my drawing .Is there any solution for this?

A block cannot be updated automatically because of a cahnge in the assembly, etc.. (To my knowledge) You can set up tags so that it's easier to change by only double clicking on the block or clicking Attributes.

I just tested this and as far as I can tell you can't attach blocks to anything because... it's a block not geometry. You can place it in a drawing, you just can't place it with a relationship to other geometry.

Just out of curiosity Slee...

What is it that you have a block of, and why does it need to update with the geometry?

Is it a scenario like having a special symbol say for instance a surface finish symbol that needs to stay pointing to a certain model edge??

let me know and lets see if we can find a workaround for it.

Once the block is inserted into the drawing, it can be exploded, then, if it's geometry, you could set relationships between it and the drawing compnents. If it's text, links could be set to the models custom properties.

I am puzzled - I don't understand what you are trying to do.  I get the feeling you are trying to use SW like an old style CAD system where model and drawing realms were very blurred.

Slee123,

If the item you are attempting to convert from drawing view geometry to a block is fairly simple, you can try the following trick.
Insert the desired view off the side of the drawing sheet border where it will not normally be seen.  Ctrl-click the model edges you want in the block, and use the convert entities command to get them as collection of lines and arcs in the drawing sheet sketch.  Move the original view out of the way and window select the new sketch lines to make a block as you normally would.
Then you can insert the block in the drawing sheet(s) as many times as you like.
When the model geometry changes, a full rebuild on the drawing should force all of the block instances to also update.  (hint: this may not work if the geometry change is significant enough to remove arcs, or add lines to the profile, this is mostly for changes of size)
If the model geometry change does invalidate parts of the sketch, at least portions of the block should go dangling color. (sorry, haven't tested that case yet)  At worst, that would be your signal to explode the block and remake it.
If you're curious, such a trick is sometimes used to create a mask layout drawing, where the instancing nature of blocks is used to create the patterns.  That significantly reduces the size of the DXF file exported for Gerber plotting.
