Body Belt w./ Lanyard

Body Belt w./ Lanyard

Body Belt w./ Lanyard

(OP)
I am interested to know how much force is needed to break a web lanyard free from its anchorage.  Also how much shock loading is needed for a person to die when wearing such safety gear. Does any one know of any web site which has this type of information?

RE: Body Belt w./ Lanyard

just noticed another two reports on that page -  nos. 2002/16 & 17 on tensile strengths of harnesses and lanyards.

Cheers,
John.

RE: Body Belt w./ Lanyard

A good website with some information is
http://www.fallsafety.com/

J. Nigel Ellis, Ph.D., CSP, P.E. is a leading expert in fall protection. A copy of his book "Introduction to Fall Protection" has example calculations etc.

RE: Body Belt w./ Lanyard

chicopee,

bit of a problem with my earlier message.

Go to this page:-

http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/hsl/engineer.htm

Have a look at reports 2002/16 & 17 and 2003/09

They may be exactly what you are looking for, especially the last one "Survivable impact forces on human body constrained by full body harness".

Cheers,
John.
