Is it ok to break cages and do you always use all reinforcing thru-out the entire pile our could you send the reinforcing down a certain depth and the remainder to have no reinforcing.

RE: cast in place pile reinforcing

If you have uplift load or horisontal load on pile you need to have reinforcement as requred for concrete section to support such loads. You may stop this reinforcement at depth where reinforcement is not required plus development length. (Ask geotech to run L-pile for horizontal load).

In addition check pile shear.

If you have only downward load on pile you may stop reinforcement at about 15 feet below pile cap.

Good luck.
