Fluid/Solid modeling

Fluid/Solid modeling

Fluid/Solid modeling

(OP)
Hello all,

I am trying to model flow and temperature problem. It is basically airflow between heatsink fins and cooling of heatsink.

Since I am interested in only temperature DOF for the solid material, I decided to model the entire assembly with FLUID142 elements; including heatsink, heatsource and fluid. So I have 3 materials; one for each.

Now when I apply my BCs to the fluid part, and solve the flow problem. But I think ansys cannot distinguish between solid and fluid and therefore thinks I have applied velocity BC on solid. It makes all my velocity BCs zero and therefore there problem is not solved.

How can I have ansys distinguish between fluid and solid when I model everything with FLUID142?

Regards,

Mahesh.
