I am look for good references/ studies for the propensity of geotextile fabrics to clog.  I'm not specific to type of fabric (woven or needle punch), case studies would be the best, but any resources will prove to be helpful.  I have had limited success finding quality information related to this.

Also I am looking for good references on soil liquifaction.  The mechanics, processes, and conditions that increase the propensity of soil liquification.

Robert (Bob) Koerner is probably the most prolific publisher with regard to geomaterials.  I'd include his work in any literature search on geofabric clogging.

For soil liquefaction, look for papers by H. B. (Harry) Seed and others at UC Berkeley.

Those should keep you busy for quite awhile!

If you can get your hands on them the geosynthetics conferences almost always have technical papers on the filtration properties of geotextiles.  For instance Sixth annual conference on geosynthetics (Atlanta, Georgia 1998) Volume 2 has 10 articles on the design and case studies of geotextile filters, Geosynthetics Conference 2001 (Portland Oregon) has 2 articles, Geosynthetics '99 volume 2 has 10 articles (one is a case study on "30 year performance evaluation of a geotextile filter").  And as Focht3 has already mentioned Koerner is probably the most proliferate writer, if not the easiest to understand, on geosynthetics.

Back in the 70's my mentor showed me a Mirafi product that clogged in a tailings dam situation - he was and still is a proponent of natural filters.  However, the knowledge and use of geosynthetics have come a long way since . . .

Interesting question. We often hear of clogging resistance--it's a common claim--but perhaps do not publish enough data on the subject.

I understood that Keithe wanted to understand the phenomenon of soil liquefaction - not necessarily have the state-of-the-art information for design.  While many researchers have extended Harry's work, few have done as thorough a job of explaining the key factors that affect the onset of liquefaction.  I stand by my recommendation.

Having said that, I will agree that the study of liquefaction didn't end with Harry's death.  Many researchers have enhanced our knowledge in this area.  And mrwgeo has provided some useful links in this regard.
