GEOTHERMAL HEATING

GEOTHERMAL HEATING

GEOTHERMAL HEATING

(OP)
Building a new library. Want to know what is the payback time for construction costs with geothermal heating

RE: GEOTHERMAL HEATING

Hi Structuro

- It can be interesting!

- You should give data about the geotherm source, how much flow rate you have. temperatures, chemical nature/composition;

- As well, concerning the building dimensions/features.

Payback depends on the location.

RE: GEOTHERMAL HEATING

Wilg, you da man. I like the graphical thing you've got going on here!   -CB

RE: GEOTHERMAL HEATING

Hi WILG
I'm working with a program, "TESTPoint", suitable as an interface for Data Acquisition & Processing Systems, and facing some problems, because this prog do not accept in an easy way figures or the "grafhical thing" you presented here. Can you provide us some information. Thank you.

TestPoint runtime programs offer basic datalogging capabilities that can be customised with the powerful TestPoint application development package.
Experienced programmers can build fully custom systems from scratch by taking advantage of free instrument drivers designed for use with development environments such as  TestPoint.
The problem is finding the correct drivers,
contact the sensor manufacturer and see if
drivers compatible with Test Point are available.
These free IVI-style drivers (VISA based) come with numerous programming examples to help programmers get started quickly.
Optional ExceLINX-1A software can acquire data and input it directly into an Excel spreadsheet.

This powerful and economical add-in utility for Microsoft Excel makes it simple to acquire data and apply it into Excel, then employ Excel's graphics, charting, and analysis capabilities to turn that data into useful information.
No advanced programming should be required.
I suggest that you start a thread in the computer
forum of engineering tips to get better answers.

RE: GEOTHERMAL HEATING

Just some points about the diagram:
1. The pumps for the radiant slab should have duction connected to the bottom manifold. The return should connect to the top manifold. This will keep the flow direction arrow on the heat exhanger correctly shown as counterflow.
2. Radiant slab heating is expensive. Consider using console type heat pumps.
3. An alternate means to heat the domestic water should be provided.
4. The ground loop piping should be manifolded with the maximum size of piping to each core bore limited to 2". This is the maximum pipe size available coiled to get seamless installation, except at manifold.
5. The ground source water loop require antifreeze solution.
6. Why are (2) pumps in series on the ground source water loop? They should be in parallel w/ one spare.
7. Expansion tank is required for the closed loop system.
