(OP)
Anyone have any experience with high speed differential epicyclic gearsets?  We've done some work with speed reduction planetarys but always with the ring or carrier fixed.  I'm looking for any practical lessons learned with making high speed differentials work.  Thanks!

RE: high speed differential planetary

How high is the speed and what reduction? Do you mean a differential or compound planetary?

If the speeds are high, keeping the components in balance is an important factor. In high-speed designs, bearings are used to locate all the parts, thus load division is more difficult and high precision is required.

RE: high speed differential planetary

Is this a simple planetary differential? Input sun gear, counter-rotating carrier and ring gear? What is the pitch line velocity of the gears?
