Culvert Monitoring

Culvert Monitoring

Culvert Monitoring

(OP)
I have a situation where a multi-cell concrete culvert is showing signs of over-stress in an exterior wall.  Our analysis shows dead load alone causes overstress, thus a negative load rating.  I would like to set up a monitoring program to collect displacement data at critical locations.  Has anyone seen similar programs?

RE: Culvert Monitoring

While working for PENNDOT in bridge inspection, we had some corrugated metal plate pipe culverts that were beginning to sag.  We had the surveying crew go out and shoot elevation points around culvert barrel at inlet, middle of barrel, and outlet end.  The survey points for each section of culvert were then entered into an Excel spreadsheet and graphed (plotted).  The amount of change for a particular time period can then be easily seen.
