Elemental Sufur Deposition in Fuel Gas

Elemental Sufur Deposition in Fuel Gas

Elemental Sufur Deposition in Fuel Gas

(OP)
We are evaluating a fuel gas system and end users (gas turbines) for the possibility of having an increase in the H2S level of the fuel gas (sweet natural gas after dehydration) from zero to 2-3 ppm.  Although the concentrations are below NACE levels at maximum allowable operating pressures, we've heard of some anectodal evidence that elemental sulfur deposition can occur even at these low levels thus effecting a turbine's internals.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge of this phenomenon?

Thanks!

RE: Elemental Sufur Deposition in Fuel Gas

jay 165,

Have you got any evidence of sulfur deposition physically ? Did you observe any deposit on the ist stage internals ? Where does the mol sieve regen gas go ? The regen gas will contain higher conc of H2S or mercaptans. Also there could be a chance for sand ingress through the air filters.

Hasn't happend yet - we're planning to meet a pipeline spec of 4 ppm.  Trying to figure out whether we need to go further to 1 ppm or less or if this is just a "red herring" issue?

Thanks for your response.
