Does anyone have a library of helical coil inserts MS21209 I can have or point me to a website? It would be real handy to have?

RE: Inserts

Funny, I just looked for some a couple of days ago.  I did not find any on 3d content central.  I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I find any.

Shaggy18VW,
I'll let you as well if I find something. It's kind of weird that SW did such a great job with the Helical Coil hole wizard and not have inserts to put in them. It would also be great to have when you make a parts list and have them itemized in the BOM.

RE: Inserts

I completely agree, the hole wizard is awesome.  I expected to see heli-coils in the toolbox.  They aren't there.

I went to the heli-coil website, and in a roundabout fashion ended up at
http://www.emhart-vic.com/emhart/htm/default.asp

After I registered, I was able to download a helicoil insert for SW.  Unfortunately the part opens as an imported solid with only the single size.  So you can't go in and create a bunch of configs with a design table.  Its a start.  Also the file size is 1,400 kb... a little big.

Probably the best thing is to find someone who has modelled it with a design table.  Or as a last resort we can model one.

RE: Inserts

The helicoil site model is of even more limited value.  How do you want your helicoils?  As installed (and without tang) or as purchased?  Actually, these are'nt the worst case. Its stuff like PEMserts that actually alter the part they are inserted into which are a problem.  All sorts of graphics fun it you let them interfere!!!

I was - and he did. So at least I didn't get coal.....
OK, OK, It's a reference to my holiday sig. "Be naughty - Save Santa a trip..."
