Spring Design

(OP)
I have managed to create the sweeps necessary for a complete spring, and now i would like to combine the sections of the spring into a single solid for use in NASTRAN.

I have tried knitting the surfaces together, and have also attempted to combine the different sections with no positive results.  Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, etc. on what I might do?  Thanks in advance for any help!

RE: Spring Design

You may want to try a different approach to your modeling.  Perhaps try geting your entire seep path (coils and arms) set up so that you can do it all in one fell sweep.

There is an example on the Solidworks.com model downloads area of a 3D fillet between a spring arm and coils.  It is not a true 3D arc, but it should serve your purpose.

I have torsion springs models, if you are interested.  I can be conteacted at the email address listed in my profile.
