diesel/gas turbine burner problems problems

diesel/gas turbine burner problems problems

(OP)
hi guys,
good work going on here.let's keep it up.
please,we have a problem with our Ruston TB5000 3MW dual fuel diesel/gas turbines.these turbines are about 21yrs old and were only upgraded to use gas rather than only diesel in 1992.
now, whenever the units run on diesel and we try to convert to gas supply, the units come down because the burners would not fire.we then have to wait for about 3hrs for the turbines to cool down before we can change the burners and start the units on gas.observed on the burners are carbon deposits and we have to clean them.this is quite unacceptable and we end up supplying our consumers using our stand alone diesel generator sets.
what i want is this
1. has anybody here experienced similar problems?if yes, what was ascertained to be the cause of the burner problem?
2. can poor diesel quality be the cause?what can be done to remedy such?
replies will be very much appreciated.
thanks
