new SP1.0 for SW2004
new SP1.0 for SW2004
(OP)
I think everybody is familair with the fact that you have to de-install the web version of SolidWorks (the version you could download from the site as SW2004 SP 0.0) if you want to upgrade to a new service pack.
I had to do this, but now I finally wanted to install SP 1.0 on my system. I took more than 30 minutes to upgrade (you even have to insert the 1st disc of the installation package)
Do more users have this problem? I cannot do it via the network option, so it will take a while to do it with the 20!!! licenses we have over here.
I use a relatively new Dell Precision 650 with a 2.8 Ghz Intel Xeon processor, 1 Ghz of internal memory and multi threading active. Windows XP

RE: new SP1.0 for SW2004
This dalay can be related to an active anti-virus system. This anti-virus system can make the installation process very slow. You can find more information about installation FAQs on the Installation references in SolidWorks web site ( ttp://www.solidworks.com/pages/services/InstallationBenefitsB... )
I hope it can helps!

Thanx anyway!

Since you have 20 licenses you might look into the silent install or admin image - http://www.solidworks.com/pages/services/subscription/t...
The reason you have in put the Disks in when installing is because of security issues which doesn't bother me because there are to many pirates out there. The way to beat it is on the intial install of SW it asks you if you want to copy the CD to your HDD (HarD Drive). If you say yes, then when you install SP's it won't ask you for the CD's. Losing some HDD space is a small price to pay so you don't have to have the CD's for every station. HDD space is dirt cheap now.

KCarpenter... would it be possible to hook up with you and get some pointers? I could not get any info from your profile. If so, please contact me at .dean.purvis@<remove me>samtec.com. The address above is encoded in an attempt to keep spammers from grabbing it (remove initial dot and the <remove me>.

Ctopher...45 minutes may not be uncommon depending on your workstations. Just to create the admin image it takes me about 2+ hours. I wish there was a way to keep it from copying up all of the other unnecessary langs and add-ins.
