Reclaiming sand & gravel mine

Reclaiming sand & gravel mine

Reclaiming sand & gravel mine

(OP)
Anyone know of new equipment or techniques for reclaiming a large (200 ac)mined out sand & gravel site? We must combine silts, clays and topsoil in order to balance the site and at the same time acheive compaction.

RE: Reclaiming sand & gravel mine

Where is the site?  What is the groundwater level like in the area?

Please see FAQ731-376 for great suggestions on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips Fora.

RE: Reclaiming sand & gravel mine

What will be the final use for the site? Mixing organics with compacted fill could lead to a disaster if any other construction is to be carried out at future date. Generally reclamation id carried out over a number of years, using various grasses to build up topsoil of a 3 to 10 year period.
