ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

HELLO,

IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN TELL ME HOW TO CONNECT EXACT ON ENDPOINT SNAP TWO CURVES IN STYLE FUNCTION?

MANY THANKS

JOYRIC

RE: ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

Joyric,

If you are using 2001, you must hold down control when creating or dragging endpoints in a style curve to allow them to snap to other geometry. When a cirle apears around it, it is contrained to a line entity (curve or edge, for example). When a square appears around the point it is constrained to a surface. When there is an "X" through the point it is fully constrained to a point or vertex.

The same applies for WF and the WF2 beta except the Control key is replaced with the Shift key.

If you want the curve to connect to the exact endpoint on another curve you can constrain it and then drag it (not holding control) all the way to the end.

Another way to do this is to create a datum point on the curve you would like to snap to and ensure that the location on the curve is 0 or 1 (when using length ratio). Then contrain the curve in style so it has an X through it. I do this to prevent myself from making mistakes sometimes.

Hope this helps...

RE: ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

Another way to do this for curves within the style feature is to use the Parameter option on the points submenu. If you drag your endpoint up to one of your style curves it should snap on and allow you to enter a PARM of 0 for start point and 1.00 for endpoint or .5 for middle like in Point on curve datum.

Is this what you were looking to do? I hope this helps
I'm sure my post or Mark's post will help out.

Happy New Year!

Michael

Many thanks guys, I have new question, When using dimension reference it always appear the radius instead of diameter symbol whenever i click a circle as entity? is there anyway to change R to diameter symbol? Happy new year guys

Thanks in advance
Joyric

RE: ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

Double click the circle or arc and you get 2* the radius value for a diameter dimension.

RE: ENDPOINT SNAP IN STYLE FUNCTION

Single click for R.
Double click for Dia.
