traction battery repair
(OP)
I have a problem with a lift truck battery. one of the cells
is leaking electrolyte (sulfuric acid) I want to stop the leak without pulling the cell (major operation).
The individual cells(12) are in a 2 x 6 configuration housed in a steel box. Pulling one cell would probably devistate its neigbors.
My question is this: can I formulate a new electolyte charge for this leaking cell using an ACID JELLY FORMULA ?
and if so how?
I am not to concerned with the electrical performance of this individual cell as there are 11 others to take up the slack, just as long it contributes something and isnt a dead short as this would neccessitate modifications to the charger.

There are many Web sites dealing with batteries.

Changing the electrolyte to a jelly is not an expensive
exercise. Lead acid batteries with a jelly electrolyte have performed with smashed cases the elecrolyte in jelly form remains in the cell.
I require a usable formula for this jelly electrolyte. I know how to find expert battery repair specialists. Jelly batteries were first patented 40 years ago, they are not as efficient as flooded cells.
I just thought some one out there might have suggested a formula for the jelly , like isinglass or the scrapings of the sturgeons reproductive bladder.
