steam jacketed vessels

(OP)
Our company manufactures steam jacketed kettles in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1.  Is there any computer program which include jackets in accordance with Appendix 9 and gives credit for a nozzle penetration through the jacket which would act as a stay thus decreasing the required inner and outer shell thickness?

RE: steam jacketed vessels

Why not staying the whole thing.
If you use nozzles as stays (you may) but you have to put a lot of them to make them have value.
I do not know about a comp. progr./or if exist.

RE: steam jacketed vessels

klein,

Which type of jacket are you considering ? Half-pipe ? Dimpled ?

"Codecalc" considers "half-pipe jackets" in the design of pressure vessels as per ASME VIII ( Appendix EE)

The COADE product,"Codecalc" performs a similar evaluation

Start with these two and ask the developers....Please report back to us, as a common courtesy, on what you have learned.

My opinion only.....
