Treated wastewater marine outfall pipe velocity.

I'm working on a project in which we will be discharging treated wastewater into an ocean bay through a HDPE outfall pipe.
Does anyone know where I can find information or whether or not there is a 'rule of thumb' regarding the what the 'minimum outfall velocity' should be in order to ensure movement of sand, sediments, etc. from the outfall area to prevent clogging of the end of the line?  Its a pretty small community and the flow will not be too great (perhaps 100gmp peak).

Thanks in advance for any insight.

RE: Treated wastewater marine outfall pipe velocity.

Same as any system; 2.5 fps. Out of curiosity, is this system going to be exposed to rough weather? If it is, you should consider heavy-heavy gauge steel pipe. HDPE will move around unless you put many concrete anchors on it. I had to design a replacement for a an HDPE sewer outfall since this pipe eventually ended up nearly being washed back up on shore.
