Mobile phone charging.

(OP)
How long would new mobile phone bateries be on charging for the first time?

RE: Mobile phone charging.

Generally, they're packaged with a full charge, so it shouldn't be more than a few hours to get sufficient charge to get going.

RE: Mobile phone charging.

Last time I bought a new phone  (Samsung M100) the shopkeeper told me to keep it for 8hrs on charging before using it the first time.

Dont know the reason though.

RE: Mobile phone charging.

Probably because most people are impatient to use their new  phones, don't give it a decent charge, then complain about lousy batteries.

RE: Mobile phone charging.

This dependes on the type of battery. Li-Ion or Nicle Metel Hydrate, Some have a retentive type memory and prefure to be fully run down then full charged up, However some cct's wont allow this to happen as the system (Phone ) will switch its self off before the battery is run down.(to protect against messy shut downs)

cann't every seem to remember wish one are with though.

RE: Mobile phone charging.

I just charge it until it says "Chargin Complete".

I have noticed that it gets a better charge if it's brought up the "Low Battery" icon before connecting the charger.

Think I've got NiMH batteries in mine.
