-INSERT Problems

-INSERT Problems

(OP)
I am using the -INSERT command to insert my 3d hardware into my dwg's, but I am having a strange problem.  I can insert whatever I want while in 2DWireframe, and then shade the dwg, and they are all visible.  But after I shade the dwg I can no longer insert visable 3d solids.  They are there and selectable, but you cannot see them.  Go back to 2dWireframe and they popup.  Here is the string I'm using:  -INSERT;*0-80/SCREW/FLAT_HD-100;\1;0

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's an AutoCad problem.  I've tried this on R2000 and R2004(currently using) and both do the same thing.

RE: -INSERT Problems

Dageorge - What layer are you bring your 3d object in?  I suspect that you are inserting object on a frozen layer.  Instead of using insert, you can try xref.  When xref is used; the program creates its own layers in the layers manager.  Hope this helps - John

I wish it was that simple, but unfortunately its not.  The block is exploded when it is inserted so it appears on it's own layer which is not frozen or locked.  If you manipulate the "invisible" 3d solid It will appear and evey thing is fine.  This is really strange.

RE: -INSERT Problems

Put the location of the blocks into the ACAD support path: Tools > Options > Files > Support File Search Path > Add > Browse.
Then change the macro to read:
^C^C-INSERT;FLAT_HD-100;\;;;
The asterisk in your macro tells it to explode the block when it is inserted.
