Rockwell Hardness
Rockwell Hardness
(OP)
Does anyone know what HRC 27 or HRC 33 equates to in yield strength? We have a material which is treated to RC 38-42 and it is 27-33. Thanks for the help.

RE: Rockwell Hardness
HRC 27 ~128,000 psi (880 MPa) tensile strength &
HRC 33 ~149,000 psi (1030 MPa) tensile strength.
This is UTS, not yield strength (Rockwell hardness testing leaves dents!). I don't believe that one can convert HRC to YS, but generally YS approaches UTS with increasing hardness as elongation decreases.
Please give the alloy if you want some idea of YS.
