Make components local in an assembly -- e-mail just the assembly

Make components local in an assembly -- e-mail just the assembly

I want to e-mail an assembly to my collegue, but I don't want to e-mail all the sub components.  Is there a way I can make the subcomponents local to the assembly so I just can send him the assembled model?  He needs to incorporate the assembly into a larger model but doesn't need to dig into any of the sub components.

I guess I could save the assembly as a iges, sat,  para etc.

Are there otherways??

Thanks for the tips.

I must have read your mind.

I was trying sectioning it while you must have been responding.

I didn't seem to work.

When I saved the assembly as a parasolid and brought that back in it worked fine.  It even recreates a part file for each part although the part is a solid and does not retain its features.

No I overlooked the check box, but I tried it and like your assembly it now works fine for me.

Thanks again,
DG
