Problem offsetting closed polylines.

Problem offsetting closed polylines.

(OP)
I've got a wierd one for you.

I'm having problems trying to offset a closed polyline. If I want to offset, say 100mm outside I just specify the distance, pick the object and click outside it.  Now, the problem I'm having is when I try to offset inside.  I specify my offset distance, pick the object in question  and click inside the object.  It does offset the rectangle but it the moves the newly created rectangle so that its centroid has and id point of 0.00, 0.00.

Can anyone offer any advice to this problem that is slowly driving me insane?

Cheers

KJJ

How many units are You away from 0,0,0? Move Your rectangle to 0,0,0-> "offset"-> move back... What happend?

RE: Problem offsetting closed polylines.

Is it possible that your offset distance inside is too great and your new rectangle is imploding?  What that means is, is the north side being forced past the south side and the east side forced past the west side and vice versa.  Sort of line a submarine going below crush depth.
