MASS PROPERTIES

MASS PROPERTIES

MASS PROPERTIES

(OP)
I am having a problem with mass properties regarding 'SURFACE AREAS' Each time I select the model (originally thinking I was sellecting a face only), I get the surface area of the 3-dimensional model which I now find is correct. But I  don't want the surface area of the model, I want the surface area of a 'FACE' only.
Am I right in thinking that it is not possible to do this.
The only way I have been able to get arround this is to reduce the extrude to zero (0.0001) and divide the Surface Area figure generated by mass proprties by 2.
The application is a face with many different shaped holes.  I need to take one from the other.
In this application it is not too much of a pain but I can think of another application ie a complex impeller were  it would be a real pain.

RE: MASS PROPERTIES

Rather than using the mass properties tool, use the measure tool.  Select the face you want the area of, and measure.  This option will give you the area and perimeter of the face.  You can also select multiple faces and the tool will total all the areas etc.

Thanks shaggy18vw, it works. Easy when you know how
