Pressure Seal Valves: Seat Diameter

Pressure Seal Valves: Seat Diameter

Pressure Seal Valves: Seat Diameter

(OP)
Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on the relationship between nominal valve size and seat(bore) diameter for B16.34 pressure seal gate valves, Class 900-2500.

I understand that there are two types of valve, regular or venturi (also referred to as full and and reduced bore, respectively).  Limiting the discussion for the moment to full bore:  how is the actual seat bore diameter determined?  Is this a function of pipe ID (which varies depending on pipe schedule), B16.34 Annex A ID dimensions, or something else?  As for venturi, specified as 8x6x8 for example, would the seat diameter be the same as the next smaller size of full bore valve?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks,
JN
