hi,

i have a ground plus four storey structure above a soil which contents bentonite. the water table is at 2 m below ground level. what should be the foundation precautions ?

RE: foundation on bentonite type soil

Your Geotechncial Consultant should be giving your recommnendations as far as foundation type and any special preparation.  If you don't have a Geotechnical Specialist already on board, you should hire one.

RE: foundation on bentonite type soil

JedClampett is absolutely correct - you need to discuss this with your geotechnical consultant before you make any decisions regarding this site.

If you wish, we can give general comments if you provide us with the location of the site as well as detailed descriptions of the subsurface conditions of the site, the proposed structure details, etc.
