Composite beam element

Composite beam element

Composite beam element

(OP)
hello,

i would like to create a model built up of composite beams in which i can set up the layer configuration like with composite shell elements. Unfortunately i cannot find such a feature in the beam element library in abaqus 6.3.
my questions:
1. Since I might not be the only person requesting such a feature, it might be installed in the 6.4 version?
2. Anyone knows a sensible work around in version 6.3?

best regards and thaks in advance!

RE: Composite beam element

In 6.4, there is a new feature called "meshed beam cross-sections", which to my understanding allows what you are requesting. I haven't used this feature, but at a cursory level it looks like it will work for your problem.

I don't know of a workaround in 6.3. 6.4 has already been shipped, so talk to you network admin if it's not already installed.

Brad
