Mirroring a pattern

Mirroring a pattern

Mirroring a pattern

(OP)
Hopefully this is a simple issue.  Something I know can be done with some of the midrange cad packages is mirroring a pattern, or patterning something mirrored.  CATIA doesn't seem to be able to handle something like this that I can find.  Any help would be great.

RE: Mirroring a pattern

Mirroring a pattern can be done with this procedure.

- Insert a new body to your part.
- Create a feature (or features) you want to pattern and mirror into the new body.
- Pattern the feature as usual
- Mirror whole body (not features)
- Click inserted body with mb3. From contextual menu select Body object > Assemble
- Select a feature from original body under which the other body will be assembled.

That's it.

Works ok for pads or similar, but doesn't work for pockets.  To create a hole, you have to create a pad extruded into the new body, perform the mirror/pattern, then subtract the new body from the original.  It works, but it seems counterintuitive and 5 steps more than other packages.
I do appreciate the tip though.  Thanks.

RE: Mirroring a pattern

The method works for pockets and holes also. But you can't
do 'em "up to next" or "up to last". For situations like this use "up to plane" type.

If features in 2nd body are pockets (or any other material removing features) it is possible to use boolean operation
Assemble directly to create pocket to solid(no need to create pads and select subtract
